Road & Track has named the Acura NSX their 2017 Performance Car of the Year. Offering incredible performance and exquisite styling, the sports car was a shoo-in for the prestigious title and we’re impressed by its achievement.
The Acura NSX beat out eight different competitors to be named Performance Car of the Year by Road & Track. It endured four days of testing throughout the back roads of Tennessee and Kentucky, where it was evaluated based on performance, value and emotion. Everything from its brakes, handling and acceleration to its transmission, engine and tires were also examined to ensure it was fit to receive Road & Track’s notable accolade.
"For the first time in a hybrid automobile of any price or capability, technology has been placed firmly in the service of emotional involvement rather than in place of it,” Road & Tracked noted about the NSX. "Everything about the car—from the way in which the brake-by-wire pedal lengthens its travel when the brakes are hot to the manner in which the mid-mounted V-6 permits itself a bit of the ol' barbaric yawp when it's winding out in fourth gear—is intended to enhance the driver's involvement."
