Like other automakers, Acura is dedicated to creating vehicles that run on electricity rather than gasoline. Recently, their performance electric vehicle (EV) made its debut at the renowned Monterey Car Week, an event celebrated annually.
Why Develop a High-Performance EV?
One of the primary benefits of an EV is that it brings more value to consumers. Typically, EVs are simpler to maintain, reducing costs for owners. They're also able to travel hundreds of miles on a single charge, saving you money and lowering your environmental impact by avoiding gas stations.
A high-performance EV can make transitioning to electric vehicles easier without compromising on appearance or capability. Many performance vehicles get fewer miles per gallon due to the high energy they use, so the shift to an electric version may offer even greater benefits.
Built within the USA
This concept vehicle will be built in Ohio at a Honda-owned facility. Acura, being part of Honda, has chosen to produce this model domestically, marking it as Acura's first U.S.-manufactured EV. The facility will be receiving a $700 million upgrade to equip it for mass production of the vehicle.
Market Release Still TBD
Acura presented a working prototype of its latest innovation, but there isn't a set timeline for its public release just yet. Completing the factory updates and preparing the new model for delivery may take some time. Still, the hope is that this SUV will encourage wider interest in Acura's upcoming EV models.
