Acura Meyer Shank Racing's (Acura MSR) Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun steered their way to a breathtaking win at Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen. It marked the team's second straight late-race triumph in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Blomqvist didn't move into first place until the final lap—when the preceding two cars pitted for gas—and the battle for the lead was nothing short of electric. Only weeks earlier in June, Acura MSR had also claimed victory at the Detroit Grand Prix in its closing laps.
Less-than-ideal conditions plagued the opening laps. Persistent rain transformed the circuit into a slick challenge, resulting in several crashes and multiple safety car deployments. Adding to the drama, the Acura #60 ARX-06 battled a malfunctioning windshield wiper, forcing Braun to peer out the side windows and rely on his spotters for guidance.
As the rain tapered off and the racing line dried, Acura quickly switched to slick tires—a strategic masterstroke that kept them in contention through the first segment. The track was blisteringly hot when Braun took over in the second stint. He steadily advanced through the field to sit among the top three and, on the final lap, had just enough fuel to hold his position.
Riding the momentum from their pole position and this latest victory, Acura MSR is eager to extend its streak. According to Blomqvist, they're getting better and better every race.
