Kakunoshin Ohta Completes IndyCar Test as Part of the Acura Meyer Shank Racing Team

Kakunoshin Ohta, who competes in Japan's Super Formula series, recently completed a 104-lap test in the Meyer Shank Racing DW12 Indy car at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Mansfield, OH.

A rising talent in motorsports, Ohta has played a key role this season for the Acura Meyer Shank Racing #93 entry in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. He's posted a season-best result of fifth in the top GTP class with teammates Nick Yelloly, Renger van der Zande, and Alex Palou. He also turned the fastest time among the five Acura ARX-06 drivers during the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks.

While Ohta is just starting to race in the U.S., he remains an active competitor in the Super Formula series with Team Dandelion Racing. With four races left in the season, he sits third in the title battle and has collected three wins so far.

Ohta joins a list of drivers who have transitioned from sports cars to IndyCar. Historically, Mike Shank Racing has fielded notable open-wheel talents, including Justin Wilson, Katherine Legge, and Helio Castroneves, on their IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship squads.
