2024 Acura MDX Base vs 2024 Acura Advance Package
When it comes to three-row SUVs, only some can match the reliability of the 2024 Acura MDX. Its standard 290-horsepower engine, leatherette-trimmed interior, and leather-wrapped steering wheel sets a high standard right from the start. The later trims, such as the Advance Package, elevate the MDX further with added style and power.
Performance
Both the MDX base and the Advance Package feature a 3.5L engine producing 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. However, the Advance Package boasts additional standard performance enhancements. Super Handling all-wheel drive is standard on the Advance Package but optional on the base model. Moreover, there is a significant disparity in towing capacity: the MDX base offers 3,500 pounds while the Advance Package delivers 5,000 pounds. Both trims benefit from front and rear stabilizer bars for enhanced stability.
Appearance
Acura's signature style and luxury are evident in the base model and the Advance Package. Each comes equipped with a panoramic moonroof, Jewel Eye LED headlamps, and heated side mirrors. However, the Advance Package stands out with additional features such as a power lift tailgate with hands-free access, LED outer door handle lights, and power-folding side mirrors. Moreover, the Advance Package boasts 20-inch Premium Silver Split 10-spoke wheels, whereas the MDX base model features 19-inch Silver Split 5-spoke wheels.
Features
One area of divergence between these trims lies in technology. While the MDX base model offers a decent Acura premium audio system with 9 speakers, the Advance Package steps up with standard ELS Studio 3D premium audio featuring 16 speakers. Additionally, the Advance Package includes more USB charging ports, a 10.5-inch head-up display, and CabinTalk technology, all of which are absent from the base model. While advanced driver-assist technologies like Traffic Jam Assist, Advanced Pedestrian Detection, and Forward Collision Warning are present in the base model, the Advance Package introduces further enhancements such as a Surround-View camera system, parking sensors, and a head-up warning.
