AcuraWatch is a driving assist technology suite with safety features to keep the Acura drivers safe. AcuraWatch has many technology features such as lane keep assist and collision mitigation braking system and many others. Below, we provide insight on various AcuraWatch features and how to use them.

Lane Keeping Assist System

The Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) helps drivers keep the vehicle centered within the marked highway lane. To activate this feature, press the MAIN button on the right side of the steering wheel to turn on the LKAS. Gray lane markings will appear on the Multi-Information Display (MID) when LKAS is on. The lane markings displayed on the MID will turn solid when the right and left lane outlines are detected. The LKAS operates on highways at 45 mph. When you move away from your lane, a signal will appear in the MID or the steering wheel will vibrate as an alert. To turn off the lane keeping assist system, click the LKAS button on the steering wheel. This button is indicated with a steering wheel icon between lane markings.

Collision Mitigation Braking System

The Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) has forward collision warning to alert the driver of pedestrians and vehicles ahead. The system applies automatic brakes when collision risk is detected. This feature is automatically activated when the car is started. When the potential collision is detected, "BRAKE" will appear on the multi-information display and head-up display models. An orange, flashing warning light will be displayed on the windshield over the instrument panel. The CMBS has three alerts, and when the collision risk increases, visual and audible alerts apply. Press and hold the CMBS off button for approximately two seconds to turn off. The button is located on the panel, left of the steering.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is a system available on Acura models to set and maintain speed. You can accelerate, maintain, brake, or set the pace when following a vehicle ahead of you. Some systems have automatic acceleration and braking when the speed range is broad. Press the MAIN on the steering wheel to enable the adaptive cruise control. ACC and LKAS will appear on the MID when this feature is enabled. Press the interval button, depicted as a car with a range of bars beneath it, until you get the desired interval bars as shown on the MID. More intervals bars shown on the MID indicate higher following speed and distance ranges between you and the vehicle ahead.

Road Departure Mitigation

The Road Departure Mitigation (RMD) with lane departure warning is another driver-assist technology in AcuraWatch that is used to alert the driver when it leaves the detectable lane. The system can help the car back to the path using the steering torque or by applying the brakes to keep the vehicle in line. The system is activated when you start your vehicle even when LKAS is off.
