Specs at a Glance

The 2020 Acura MDX is a modern midsize luxury SUV with excellent handling, a strong powertrain, and excellent gas mileage. With a standard and powerful 290 horsepower V-6 engine, even the base model has significant power under the hood. The Hybrid package is customizable based on features and gives you plenty of options for picking a vehicle that is right for you.

Performance

Arguably the best characteristic of the 2020 Acura MDX and the MDX Hybrid are the performance specifications. The Hybrid MDX uses a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with three electric motors to provide Acura’s signature Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) platform. The Hybrid platform gives us a robust 321 horsepower during hard acceleration. The base trim is nothing to sneeze at either. With a 290 horsepower engine, the MDX base trim is only 31 horsepower behind its hybrid cousin.

While the base trim for the MDX is a front-wheel drive, it still offers a respectable 3500 pounds of maximum towing capacity. The Hybrid trim revs up the engine power and gives over 5000 pounds of towing capability. The combination of SH-AWD and the increased towing capacity in the MDX Hybrid give it a sizeable advantage is you plan on pulling weight.

Appearance

While the 2020 MDX and the 2020 MDX Hybrid may not draw the eye like some luxury SUVs, it has sleek lines and a handsome look. Both the base trim and the Hybrid trim cut down on the boxed look of most SUVs while not sacrificing on the interior. This SUV looks sleek on the road and has the power to perform as it looks. Both trims are 4-door models with a powered moonroof and a remote-linked power-operated tailgate.

Features

The Hybrid trim offers some excellent extra features to the model with rain-sensing windshield wipers, smart key entry, and sport seats with contrast stitching. The MDX base trim has a unique climate control system with humidity control and air filtration—the Hybrid steps up the equation with a GPS-linked climate control system.

Both the FWD base trim and the Hybrid trim have excellent storage space available for cargo. The third-row seats on both models offer an extra 15 cubic feet of storage that is accessible through the tailgate. Folding seats on both models extend down to a flat level providing an easy and quick way to grab some extra room for groceries.
