Whipping out slightly more than 270 horsepower, the 2022 Acura TLX Base's 2.0-liter engine employs a mono-scroll turbocharger. This I-4 powerplant cranks out 280 pound-feet of torque at tachometer readings that exceed 1,600 RPM. Having a V-6 configuration, a 3.0-L engine with power derived from a twin-scroll turbocharger, the Type S. Peak ratings of this six-cylinder engine are 355 hp and 354 lb-ft. Each Acura sedan is driven by an automatic transmission that makes 10 gear ratios. The Electronic Gear Selector provides an intuitive way for engaging the gearbox, which also has the Grade Logic Control and Hill Start Assist. Using paddle shifters, you could select the Sport+ and other modes from the Integrated Dynamics System on the Type S edition. Running on the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, this high-end model gets superb traction on any paved surface. Also optional on the entry-level trim, the SH-AWD transfers slightly less than half of the available torque to the rear wheels. Both Acura models exploit the Agile Handling Assist for consistent tracing on curved roads. Additionally, the Adaptive Damper System adjusts the stiffness of the suspension system on the Type S.

Appearance

The 2022 Acura TLX Base is available in Fathom Blue Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel, and other exterior colors. Making a bold styling statement, the Tiger Eye Pearl paint is available for the Type S. Both Acura sedans wear the LED Jewel Eye Headlights, Chicane DRLs, and Chicane taillights. You'll notice a handful of other exclusive styling elements on the Type S model, like the front grille with the Open Surface Diamond Pentagon design. A decklid spoiler with Gloss Black paint is another alluring item on this sporty trim. Additionally, this model has the Geometric Pattern Brush Aluminum trimming inside the cockpit.

Measuring just over 10.0 inches wide, an HD touch screen is standard inside the 2022 TLX Base. Some high-tech features inside this entry-level edition include Wi-Fi, Android Auto, and the AcuraLink Connected Services. Featuring Traffic Rerouting and voice control, the Acura Navigation console is integrated into the Type S' infotainment console.
