If you have or are looking for an Acura with a high-tech radio to provide entertainment for your commute, there is a simple procedure to locate the code you need and then enter it in. There are multiple reasons why you may need to do this. If you just purchased an Acura vehicle, then this could certainly be necessary.
It could also be needed if you swap out the Acura's battery for a new one. If you need to reset the radio for some reason, get a jumpstart, or if it's simply clear your radio needs the code, these could all be reasons for getting this done.
Finding the Acura Code You Need
Before you can input the code, you have to find it first. It can be in a few different places inside your Acura. For example, it could be in the maintenance journal for your vehicle. This is the book that gives you a recommendation for doing repairs.
It could also be in your owner's manual, specifically on the card that's marked as the anti-theft radio ID card. This should have the code right on it. Sometimes your Acura will have a little sticker with the code on I as well. They put these in the trunk jamb, the door jamb, or sometimes in your glove box.
It may have two sets of numbers on it. The first line should have 5 digits. That will be your radio code. The second line has a serial code number on it. If the first line is rubbed out or impossible to read for some reason, or if it just doesn't have the 5 digits, you can use the serial number. Simply call the Acura Customer Service number, tell them the serial number, and they may be able to give you a new code.
Entering the Number
After you have your Acura code, then you just need to enter it to make the radio work. First, you have to hit the power button for the radio if it isn't already on. You'll know you're ready if it says “CODE.”
Next, you input the 5 digits. Every time you type, it should add another letter until “CODE” is spelled out again. Each number should add a letter.
If the radio unlocks and you have access to all the features, you are all set. Otherwise, you may need to double-check your code.
